Eleven questions, answered briefly. The first two are about this site, because you should know who you are dealing with before anything else.
A referral service for McKinney, Texas. It passes air duct and dryer vent cleaning requests to an independent local contractor. It does not do the cleaning.
An independent duct and dryer vent cleaning contractor, working under their own company name, who quotes and carries out the job. If part of the job needs a licensed air conditioning contractor, that part is quoted by one.
Maybe not. The EPA does not recommend routine cleaning. It says to consider it when there is substantial visible mold on hard duct surfaces, when ducts are infested with rodents or insects, or when they are clogged enough that dust and debris come out of the supply registers. Construction debris in a new house is the other common reason in McKinney.
This site will not tell you so. The EPA says duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. A filter that fits and is changed on time is the cheaper thing to get right first.
It depends on the number of systems and openings. Ask the contractor for a time estimate in the written quote. A whole house quoted at well under an hour may mean only the registers are being done.
In most houses here, overhead. McKinney houses from the 1960s on are built on slabs, and the air handler and ducts usually sit in the attic. Older houses near downtown vary, because their systems were added later. See ducts by build year.
Usually, and it is priced as its own line. Say where the dryer vents out when you call, because a roof vent takes different equipment from a wall vent.
One national cost guide says most homes need it once a year. Clean it sooner if loads start taking longer to dry. A 2012 U.S. Fire Administration report found that failure to clean was the leading factor in home clothes dryer fires.
Be careful. The EPA says no chemical biocides are currently registered for use in internally insulated duct systems, and in Texas applying a disinfectant inside the system is licensed air conditioning work, not duct cleaning. See coil, blower and sanitizing.
You can ask about it here, but the ducts and the vent belong to the building. Talk to the landlord or property manager first, since they normally have to approve and arrange the work.

Ask it on the phone. If the answer is that you do not need the job, you will be told that.
