Allen borders McKinney to the south and was built a few years ahead of it. Its median house dates from 2003 against McKinney's 2007, and a much larger share of its housing comes from the 1980s and 1990s.

A third of Allen's housing was built from 1980 to 1999. In McKinney it is under a fifth. That shifts the usual duct question. In Allen it is more often about ductwork that has been in an attic for thirty years or more: whether it is intact, and whether cleaning it is sensible or a waste.
